Gabrielle Prohn - Public Relations and Promotions Coordinator

Burts Bees Public Relations & Promotions Coordinator - Gabrielle ProhnGabrielle has jumped 50 feet into the ocean off the southern most tip of the U.S. in Hawaii and has visited 10 different countries outside our borders. In a previous life, she was a costume designer, and she once appeared on the Nickelodeon show What Would You Do? Gabrielle has been practicing yoga for eight years, and has used our products for 12.

Since joining Burt's Bees in 2006, Gabrielle has found many great things about working here – all related to our culture. "Our culture is built on creating high-quality, safe body and planet-nurturing products. The space created by that purpose attracts great people and promotes a growing pursuit of best practices for Earth and humans. Overall, it's an open space for growth and new understanding – who could ask for anything more?"

Beyond helping educate fellow consumers about what "natural" really means and how it's vital to health and well-being, Gabrielle says she has found great joy in working on sustainability initiatives as a member of ECOBEES and developing a partnership with Habitat For Humanity to build the first affordable green home in North Carolina.

She wants to continue to build homes with Habitat, and says she would also like to "find new ways for employees to engage our community in a greater understanding of healthy living and sustainable enterprise. This might involve tours of our plant, workshops or educational videos as well as reaching out to other companies, sharing stories of success and best practices."

In her free time, Gabrielle works as a sales associate at Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit organization devoted to fair trade. In this role, she has the pleasure of informing visitors about fair trade and also telling the stories of the artisans and how their relationship with Ten Thousand Villages has impacted education and the standard of living in their communities.

Before coming to Burt's, Gabrielle and her husband spent a year working on organic farms in New Zealand and backpacking thorough the Southern Alps. Today, they spend as much time as they can exploring North Carolina's mountains, rivers, lakes and coast, mostly on foot, sometimes by boat. Whenever possible their dog Zasha joins them on adventures.

Gabrielle's favorite Burt's Bees product: Miracle Salve. She's been using it as a styling product in her hair, a lip balm and a hand salve. "I like multipurpose products – less to carry when camping or traveling!"
