Bath time with your little one can be fun and a great bonding experience. Add some bath bubbles and playtime in the bath will become your baby’s favourite. We take a look at how to make bath time enjoyable, and why you should use a gentle, natural formula like Burt’s Bees Bubble Bath.
When should you use bubble bath on your baby?
Although a bubble bath is a great way of making bath time more fun, use is not recommended unless your baby is at least one month old. In fact, you shouldn’t use any cleansers until four weeks have passed, and instead, use only plain water to clean your newborn baby.
This is because babies are protected by a thick coating of vernix whilst in the womb, some of which will remain on their bodies over the course of a three-week period after birth. Allowing the coating of vernix to shed naturally is essential for your newborn baby to develop soft and supple skin, so stick to plain water to prevent stripping it from the surface.
During this period, you should only bathe your baby two to three times a week and for a maximum of 10 minutes. Longer periods of soaking can cause the skin to dry out, leading to irritation.
Why you should use Baby Bubble Bath
Babies love bubbles, so they are more likely to enjoy bath time when a baby bubble bath is involved. It’s a great way of getting your little one clean without using shower gels and soaps, which can irritate the skin with their fragranced formulas. In addition to this, sponges, if not washed thoroughly, can be a hive for bacteria, which using bubble bath removes the need for.
For a bubble bath that will gently cleanse your little ones without irritating or drying out the skin, try Burt’s Bees Baby Bubble Bath. Our sudsy, tear-free formula will wash away bacteria while helping the skin to maintain its moisture. It’s a 99.8% natural formula, made without phthalates, parabens, petroleum or SLS, so it’s perfect for your little one’s sensitive skin.
