Stay At Home Skincare Routine

Practice some self-care in self-isolation. Social distancing has been the perfect excuse for us to take some time for ourselves, spoil our skin with a new daily skincare routine and give it that little bit of extra attention that it deserves. We’ve come up with a few suggestions as to how you can help your skin to look healthier than ever – even if it’s only you and the postman that can appreciate it.

Keep your nighttime skincare routine in check

You may not be wearing as much makeup (if any at all), but it’s still important to cleanse your skin and maintain a thorough nighttime skincare routine. We know it can be tempting to jump straight into bed but we promise the results will be worth the extra 3 minutes you’ll be awake for. Removing dirt that’s accumulated over the course of the day will help to unclog poresyou’ll thank yourself in the long run.

Our go-to products to cleanse away impurities are the Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream and the Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub. First, wet your face and gently massage the cleanser into your skin to remove makeup, dirt and excess oil. With Soap Bark, Chamomile and Aloe Vera, skin is deeply cleansed and soothed. Use the Pore Scrub afterwards to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal a polished-looking complexion. Finish with our Sensitive Night Cream, a rejuvenating formula made with softening cotton extract that helps to gently hydrate skin overnight.

Find your perfect moisturiser

It’s important to ensure you keep your skin moisturised and hydrated during self-isolation. Finding your perfect moisturiser is essential to keep skin nourished and looking plump and fresh. We recommend the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion, a fast-absorbing formula that’s been scientifically shown to help increase skin’s ability to retain moisture. We recommend using this as a daily moisturiser, apply after you’ve washed and cleansed your face as part of your morning skincare routine.

Do a weekly face mask

Not only does this encourage self-care and taking some time to yourself, a once weekly face mask will combat any skin issues before they arise. Our recommendation? The Detoxifying Clay Mask. While it lifts away impurities with charcoal, it nourishes skin with antioxidants in just 10-15 minutes. Featuring super ingredient acai, the rich antioxidants and nutrients leave skin looking fresh and oil-free. Apply before bed while you’re winding down for the evening with a cup of tea and a good book.

Drink more water

We should probably have put this at number 1 as it’s a tried and tested method to getting clear skin. Not only is water essential to live but it clears out toxins that are harmful to the body. So even if you can’t survive the day without your morning latte, just make sure you’re sipping water consistently throughout the day. The recommended amount is 2 litres which is easily achievable if you refill a sports bottle a few times.

Get more sleep

It may sound simple but getting the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep a night is vital for good skin health. When you’re sleep-deprived, your body produces more of the stress hormone cortisol, which can lead to increased stress and inflammation in the body and skin, triggering breakouts. We’ll take any excuse for an early night.
