Tips For Self-Care At Home

If the last few months have made us realise anything, it’s the importance of self-care at home, seeing as it’s where we’ve been spending most of our time. We have a look at what self-care really means and suggest some self care tips, to keep you healthy and glowing, on the inside and out.

What is self-care?

Self-care is simply taking time to look after yourself. It comes in a variety of forms – from face masks and baths, to sleep and diet, but it’s imperative in order to maintain both your physical and mental wellbeing, ensuring that you’re the best version of you that you can be.

Why do we often neglect self-care?

A lot of us lead busy lives and between work, relationships and general life stresses, finding some time to yourself can be tricky. We often feel guilty for having some “me time” when we believe that there are other, more important things to be doing, but self-care should be high on your priority list to live a balanced, happy life. Take a look at our self care tips below.

Self Care Tips

Make time to read

Reading books can open your mind and help you to learn, as well as improve your mood and help you to feel relaxed after a long day. Instead of picking up your phone, try picking up a book and reading a chapter or two, you’d be surprised at how much calmer you feel. Pick a book that excites you to learn, or a novel that has you engrossed before dinner – just make sure you’re reading something that you enjoy.

Take a bath

A bubble bath with some scented candles is always a great way to wind down and relax. Soak your skin and treat it afterwards with a hydrating body lotion. Our Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion is made with coconut and grape seed oils to condition and nourish skin, with moisturisation lasting up to 24 hours.

Eat a little healthier, exercise a little more

Cleaning up your diet can have a huge impact on both your physical and mental wellbeing. Eating a healthier diet doesn’t have to mean losing weight, it’s about understanding what nutrients your body needs to function the best it can. Incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your diet means you’ll be consuming more vitamins and minerals, which will likely increase your energy levels and benefit your skin too.

More frequent exercise can also encourage a healthier, happier you. Try an intense cardio workout to release stress after a busy day, or opt for gentle yoga to relax your mind and body before bed.

Add some colour

One to incorporate into your morning routine – try adding a colourful lip, as opposed to your everyday nude. By brightening your face, you’ll likely brighten and lift your mood too. The Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm is the perfect skin care/cosmetics hybrid that nourishes your lips and provides a subtle colour that lasts for up to 8 hours.
